Or as we say here in India - New Years!!! Which ofcourse means time to celebrate except for some reason i am sitting here in my 18th floor flat feeling like we are under seige. There are fireworks going off left and right but no pretty colors in the sky just a TON of NOISE!!!! As well as bursts of light so low that it almost scares me to think of all the lil kids playing down there. This city is MAD I tell you... just plain MAD. Diwali is actually on Friday but over here its a week long celebration again any reason to party... so there have been festivities everyday and people doing traditional rituals with colors, its very interesting. OMG so much NOISE!!!! There goes sleep for tonight.
So I am really excited to announce that I have seen not ONE but TWO HATHIS ( Elephants) roaming the gali's of Mumbai. It was the one animal I hadn't yet seen that I really wanted to see. So yesterday I was in a rickshaw and I see this grey stump next to me and I look up and it was huge and ofcourse way up high on its back were some people!!! How fun.... i was really excited. Then today at work I went to get my lunch and on my way back walking right there next to a restaurant was this huge HUGE elephant just chillin. I walked right next to it and it looked me right in the eyes ( love at first site... hahahhaha) it was really cute though until it nearly wacked me with its tail and splashed some dirty water stuff my way.... it stank!!!! Still very exciting... next i want to find the tigers.
So work is going great... we have a diwali party tomorrow and hopefully by next week we can start putting some program plans into action. I am actually getting used to the work environment here... the people are so nice.
