weekend and more....

Its about 3 am here on a wednesday night / Thursday morning and my attempt to sleep failed so I decided to come out and write admist grasshoppers jumping around me... yes I am still in my apt. so they are technically invading my space and not vice versa. Oh well I have gotten quite accustomed to sharing space with all the different animal species- it is their home too.

So I spent the weekend in Goa- a city on the South West coast of India. It is primarily known for its beaches and consist of lots of partying and a care free lifestyle. It attract a lot of foreigners from Europe. So I took the train there and reached after a 8 hour journey. My weekend consisted of a lot of seafood - shrimp, oysters, crab - you name it I ate it and it was all very tasty. I spent a lot of time enjoying the sunsets and the warm weather as well as swimming in the sea which was also very very warm. I never thought I would get in the sea and actually swim out but I did and it was amazing being out there and knowing that the water just went on and on- I actually felt a bit fearless I think that didn't last too long because ofcourse I swam back as soon i had no perception of where the sea bottom was. The coconut water was delicious and ofcourse so was the very original Goan King Fisher beer... okay so I don't know how original it really was but everyone says it supposed to taste better so I always asked for the Goan beer ... I don't think anyone there knew what I was referring too... beer is beer i guess.

I also gave my palette and adventure by trying just about everything. We went to an authentic Goan restaurant which serves porcupine, raccoon, peacock, deer, rabbit, wild boar, and then the traditional stuff. Unfortunately they were out of the first three so I basically tried the last three - and it was interesting - definitely didn't all taste like chicken thats for sure. They all had different textures and tastes and most were chewy. I wasn't a huge fan but atleast I tried it and now I know I want to stick to my prawns!!!!!
