“Don’t cry for me taiiiiiwan”

It’s my last day in Taiwan and the sky decided to open up and pour buckets of water on us! Everyone has been telling me how unusual it is that not a single taiphoon has come to the island this year whereas last year at this time, 10 taiphoons paid a visit. What does that mean? Dried up rivers and really hot days! Someone heard all the complaining, today has been one rainy day. My last day in Taiwan and I am walking around with an umbrella and shorts on and getting hit by rain from all directions, it has been fun. I went to breakfast with one of my many new friends and her beautiful little baby and was in awe how she managed to walk around with a an umbrella and a stroller and carry a conversation while taking me through the streets to the next destination! Collins you are amazing! After taking a trip to the local grocery store and then the tea shop and finally lunch at my ever favorite ice cream place – Swenson’s I am all packed and ready to head back to sunny California. I have had an awesome journey here with just the right balance of adventure and peace to revitalize me. The challenges of language barriers, transportation, loneliness, excitement, and newness definitely puts life into perspective…it IS what you make of it. I have had the pleasure of meeting some inspiring people who have picked up their life and relocated to Taiwan for various reasons but each of them has a story that somehow weaves into mine and makes my life just a little more clearly. I couldn’t ask for anything more on this adventure. See ya all at home.

Metta love
