Novice Cyclist Series: ALC Day 4

Halfway there! A long day of 97 miles and over 3800 ft of climbing. I was riding with the big boys today which meant go go go, and it was effin FUN! Until I got to lunch and lost them then it was more like slow slow slow. Lots of winds but not as bad as I heard they were last year. I was getting tired towards the end and spent longer than usual at rest stop 4 enjoying some sunshine and being entertained by these angry birds.

Another 10 miles and I was back at camp stuffing my face with food and It was a princess day, instead of tenting I stayed at the Holiday Inn across the street and enjoyed the luxury of a comfortable bed.

It was an emotional day today. I questioned my riding intention,  "Why am I riding?" The answer that immediately bounced back, every mile, every mash, every inch is dedicated to someone who can't be out there doing it. When I am on the road I am in it for me, I enjoy the challenging climbs ahead and the rewarding descends. The goal of catching up to someone and the thrill of saying "on your left" but all of that energy still feeds a higher purpose and that is the cure.
